Simple and Easy way to learn about Crystals!
This Book, like many others have said, is a Very Very easy book to follow. Very nicely set up, including very nice pictures, and very good information. There is not one paragraph that isn't too hard to understand. It gives information on many different types of crystals, as well as many different excersises you can practice with your crystals. It also tells you what the different crystals are used for and how you can use them for healing in your everyday life. I would deffinetly recomend this book for anyone who is interested in crystals, crystal heling, wants to learn about crystals but has trouble understanding some information, or anyone who wants to expand their horizons! It is a great book for just about all ages. I hope everyone enjoys it as much a I do. Personally I bought it after I borrowed it from the library after the 3rd millionth time

Crystals and crystal healing
Excellent - simple and straight forward - colour photos illustrating a good cross-section of 100 or more crystals and their properties, how to use them and heal, balance and restore balance and health. Highly recommended not just for the beginner but great as a quick reference guide.

good beginners guide
excellent little book that is easy to follow and understand for any reader. stones and crystals are described in their colour sections making it enjoyable to read when referencing. Well recommended and a book that you can read again and again.

Dancing Queen: The Lusty Adventures of Lisa Crystal Carver
Published in Paperback by Owlet (November, 1996)
Author: Lisa Carver
Average review score:

fabulous.
lisa carver is a tremendous storyteller. this book is like having every issue of rollerderby inflated to be 300% larger than their normal sizes and put into one lovely book that can't be put down.

Inspirational
Lisa Carver, as a writer, makes it okay for us to embrace every part of ourselves. I think she is a better role model for teen girls that people like Brittney Spears could ever be. She understands herself, her sexuallity, and the world we live in (for the better and the worse). She takes the shame out of being poor, and encourages you to enjoy life. I could only call her inspirational.

Loving Lisa
I was late coming into touch with Lisa Carver. _Dancing Queen: A Lusty Look at the American Dream_ (Henry Holt) was published five years ago, and I didn't know it. I got to know her writing from her uninhibited diary entries at the fine adult site Nerve.com ('The Community of Thoughtful Hedonists'). So, I was glad to take a look into _Dancing Queen_ in order to understand the past of this peculiar woman. It is a slim volume of her essays on white trash, kissing, other ladies' bodies, and more. It is enormous fun. What's nice is that as different as Lisa is from anybody, she is happy and optimistic. 'I've done lots of stupid things, but I've enjoyed myself. _Dancing Queen_ is about _liking_ stuff. It's about how pleasing it can be to be poked and probed ' by the hairdresser, by the gynecologist, by killer bears, by the thirty-six-year-old ski instructress in _Princess Daisy_.' She is impatient with those who don't have fun; she cannot comprehend 'a whole essay by a woman who was upset that some men hooted at her, for instance. I _like_ to be hooted!' She gives us rants that certainly are self-indulgent, but you cannot expect anything different from someone who indulges herself with such lewdness, shamelessness, and fun.

Not only are her opinions odd, but it is obvious she enjoys getting them into words. In the chapter about her sensual enjoyment of a trip to the gynecologist ('It is the _illicit_ pleasure caused by _necessary_ procedures performed by _removed_ professionals that gets my temperature rising.'), she says that a certain kind of girl likes a visit to the gynecologist as much as Christmas: 'It only happens once a year and she gets lots of things she wants. She skips to the clinic while visions of speculums dance in her head.' She gushes over the ghost-written novels of perfect specimen Fabio ('He's always mentioning condoms in his pirate books') and informs us that 'They contain bold lines like:

1. 'I am a man of the sea.' 2. 'Go hide in the fields, woman.' 3. 'Mayhaps she thinks I am doing something bad.''

It was this sort of literature that fired her pre-adolescent fantasies: 'At twelve, I had as much sex drive as the entire U.S. Army and absolutely no idea what to do with it.' Not to worry; she has since learned. 'They sold me a roadmap to ecstasy covered in highways of trouble, and I couldn't wait to visit every site on the map.'

Lisa is hilarious when discussing just a trip to the hairdresser, or K-Mart, or Olivia Newton John, but the best chapter in the book is entitled 'An Iron Fist in a Polyester Glove: Lawrence Welk.' What is he doing here? Well, when Lisa was little, 'To me, the constant, ultra-close-ups of moist-lipped, moist-eyed, soft-bosomed lady singers lined up side by side in matching outfits like chickens to be plucked were an open call to perversion.' She has since made an extensive study of Lawrence's several autobiographies, where she must have learned that he originally picked up an accordion and set out to conquer the world, as Lawrence Welk & His Hotsy Totsy Boys. While she doesn't gloss over Lawrence's famous temper, she finds, surprisingly, a kindred spirit, someone who had a dream: 'extreme close ups of _nice_ people singing nice songs and dancing anachronistic dances against insanely cheerful backdrops. It's a beautiful dream!'

This isn't for everyone. Lisa is frank, naughty, and lustful. She throws sexual fantasies in even when discussing a sequence of post-Glasnost Russian leaders. If you like smart people who write enthusiastically well, and if you appreciate that to be peculiar is also to be interesting, this is certainly worth a look. Oh, and hot off the Lisa Diaries on Nerve.com: Lisa is trying to get pregnant again. That kid is going to have plenty to think about.

Gemstone Feng Shui: Creating Harmony in Home & Office
Published in Paperback by Llewellyn Publications (June, 2003)
Authors: Sandra Kynes and Zins
Average review score:

A Whole New Perspective
I have used feng shui on and off for over a year, but I didn't always stick with it. When I saw this book I knew this was what would help me understand what I needed to do, and it has. This helped me see and understand feng shui from a perspective that made sense for me.

I like the detail and background information on gemstones and crystals.

Each stone is covered along with tips on balancing it
Attract fortune to your home through Gemstone Feng Shui, a title that links gemstones with feng shui. Jade aids in problem-solving, amber in attracting luck: each stone is covered along with tips on balancing it to blend into a home or office environment. The details include plenty of description of all qualities and interactions.

Put this book at the top of your list
I only recently got into Feng Shui, but I have always collected various gemstones. It seems obvious that the two go together and this book demonstrates just so.
I highly recommend Gemstone Feng Shui, for anyone interested in creating a more harmonious environment.

Healing With Gemstones and Crystals (Crossing Press Healing Series)
Published in Paperback by Crossing Press (June, 2003)
Author: Diane Stein
Average review score:

Crystal & Gems for healing, spirit, & ascesion!
Diane Stein has gone deeper lately into healing, spirituality, and ascesion. I have always loved her Goddess spirituality books, but these are even better! Now when I shop for stones I can get more appropriate stones for healing, etc. Even though the book is small, it is worth its weight in gold!

Excellent concise reference!
I really love this book for a concise, not-overwhelming book of healing properties of stones. The biggest downfall is that there are no pictures, which is a big disappointment. But if I'm shopping for crystals there is usually a picture, so you can look for the stones whose properties you would like to have, then go out and buy it.

I would love to see an updated version of this with more than 200 stones in it.

Very useful
I bought this book a year ago. I have several books about healing with crystals and this is the one I refer to most often. Diane Stein includes the healing properties of many uncommon stones which other books leave out. Her descriptions of each stone are short, concise and complete. A wonderful reference.... I use it all the time! I also appreciate the fact that much of the information is channeled.

Crystal Healing
Published in Paperback by Aurora Press (June, 2003)
Author: Katrina Raphaell
Average review score:

Infomation is good but organization is wrong
The information about crystals was authentic and acurate but some of the methods were not very safe. Such as when she was speaking of channeling crystals and suggested that you speak with entities you felt around you with out first telling you to place you self in protective light was a dangerous mistake. I only hope no one has hurt them self with this misleading onformation. Although she dose speak of protection she don't put the right kind of stress on it. I guesse she dons't come in contact with unfriedly forces but they are out there and looking for ingnorent victims. The methods of healing in this book is a great way to conduct your healings. I just wish she gave more information on how to heal your self with crystals.

A must for Crystal Fans
This book introduces the unique and powerful healing properties of crystals. Katrina's healing technique is to put a pattern of stomes, based on intuition, along the different chakras of the recipient. She also integrates many practical therapeutic skills on the crystal healing which enhance the healing effect. When I firstly received the crystal healing in Crystal Academy, I realized the crystal energy can bring me to a different dimension which I can't imagine before. The informationm of the 12 Master Crystals is also advanced material

crystal healing
If i can start with the reason i bought the book in the first place, then this is it, I saw this book on the shelf, picked it up and flicked through some pages, now in my mind at that particular moment while flicking the pages i was looking for a layout picture of where placement of crystal need to go on the body, normally i read the reviews on the back cover, but because i didn't find what i was looking for in that book i put it back on the shelf,on my left was the shop assistant and on the other side my mother, when i put this book back on the shelf behind all the other books it was behind when i picked it out, i walked away, and yes it happened, THE BOOK FELL OFF THE SHELF out of it's neat little place and from behind 3 other books that were placed at an angle on the shelf. The other books did not fall, only the one that i had picked up to look at, and it fell with the back cover facing up, and there on the back of the cover was the picture i was looking for, my mother mouthed the very words that this book was trying to tell me BUY ME! and so i did. Back then i was new to the world of crystals and am relatively still the a bit of a novice, but after reading this book i have this yearning to find out everything there is to know about crystals and gemstones. I have read this book twice from cover to cover and still get excited, the explanations are simple the pictures are colourful and the makeup of the crystals and what they can be used for a very detailed. I have not read the other book written by Katrina Rafaell, but will seek to purchase a copy of crytstal enlightment to read.

Crystal Power, Crystal Healing: The Complete Handbook
Published in Paperback by Sterling Publishing (December, 1998)
Author: Michael Gienger
Average review score:

A Must Have
This is the first book that I obtained regarding crystals and their properties. It is one that I would rate at the top of the chart for info. I find comfort in it's pages for the basic needs regarding this vast topic. It goes deep enough for the beginning practitioner. The awesome colour pictures are very beneficial for identifing stones received as gifts.

THE Definitive Work on Healing Minerals
Gienger brings together realistic science, folk-traditions, AND intuitive application wisdom in the definitive guide for beginners and long-time practioners of the ancient art of crystal healing. This book is essential for the many pages of full-color photographs alone! Any student or practioner of crystal healing must have this work in her or his library.

AT LAST - An Incredibly Wonderful Guide to Crystals!
After working with crystals and stones for nearly a decade and either owning or reading newly every crystal book around, I nearly fell out of my seat when I read this brilliant work. Finally, someone has come up with original information that is both pragmatic and accurate. It is not yet another warmed over text with the same information on the same topics, over and over and over again. This book explains the energies of the various scientific elements - something I have *never* seem before, as well as detailing the energies of the different crystalline structures and their chemical classifications. Aside from that, he provides wonderful information on the way each stone forms which can give us even deeper insights into the stones. I consider myself extremely knowledgable on the subject, but this work is a brilliant addition to the body of knowledge we have on stones. I give the greatest thanks to this author for such a powerful and useful contribution! May you always find the light within you so you may see the light around you.

Crystal Reports: A Beginner's Guide
Published in Paperback by McGraw-Hill Osborne Media (03 December, 2001)
Author: David G. McAmis
Average review score:

Easy reading and very helpful
This book read very easily. he software comes with a sample DB that the book uses which is great. You may find certain reduncies when working on each chapters examples but its so the reader can jump to any chapter. The book is set up so you dont have to staart from the beginning. It took me a little over a month to finish reading the book simply because the software was at the job. You really need the software to make sense of it.
I only wished it delved deeper into table and formulas. But its a beginners book. I recommend it hands down as a starter book

Excellent Coverage and Design
Crystal Reports: A Beginner's Guide covers everything and more that I wanted to learn about Crystal Reports. The information is easy to digest and there are regular 1-Minute checks along the way. Hands-on experience, in the form of Projects, are dispersed through each chapter (the completed projects can be downloaded from the web). Answers to the Mastery Checks, at the end of every chapter, are given in the Appendix.

My only complaint about the book is that, I feel, there is not enough hands-on experience because the projects are too simple. There are plenty of projects, but most of them are simply a number of steps and very little critical thinking. After reading Crystal Reports: A Beginner's Guide, my knowledge of Crystal Reports has vastly increased though I still have little experience with actually creating reports.

best of the best Crystal Reports
hey...this book. is very very good...try

Very nice book on Crystal Reports
This book was a welcome break from the manual that comes with version 7.0. Very easy to understand the basics and it also contains alot of other stuff. I needed to create some reports quickly and this book really helped.

Crystal reports 7 - made very easy
The best on the market you will find. The book is very easy to follow and chapters are very nicely arranged. Good work.

Seagate Crystal Reports 7 for Dummies
This book was an excellent start for Crystal. I can actually read the huge technical Crystal Report books and understand what they are reffering to. It helped open the door to a whole new world.

Apples, Bubbles, and Crystals: Your Science ABCs
Published in Paperback by McGraw-Hill/Contemporary Books (01 March, 1996)
Authors: Andrea T. Bennett, James H. Kessler, Melody Sarecky, and Jim H. Kessler
Average review score:

Best science experiment book for the under seven set
My five year old loves the idea of doing science experiments, so I have purchased three or four science books geared for kids her age. This is the best one that I have seen. The activities are fun and easy to do. Almost all of them require only materials that are readily available in the average household. Most take under half an hour from start to finish. The reason that I gave the book only four stars and not five is that the poems themselves are not great. Bottom line: the science experiments are terrific, but the book is not a great read.

Easy-to-Do Projects That Kids Love
I bought this for my 5-year-old daughter and she loves it. It has many classic children's science projects, like making a tornado using two soda bottles, and all of the projects use common materials and are easy to do. They are just right in length and complexity for her age.

Great poems and science projects for kindergarten teachers!
I just went to the California Kindergarten Conference and saw this book presented. There is a poem and a science project for each letter of the alphabet. They are simple, hands-on experiments and very affordable for the K-1 teacher.
